Home | Local | Expect Max Enforcement for the Holiday Weekend

The CHP will have all their officers on duty for the Fourth of July weekend. CHP area Commander Lieutenant Chuck Whitmore says a special grant for enforcement will be used for the three day period starting on Friday. Lieutenant Whitmore said his officers will be focusing on speeders and driving under the influence.

“We have some special overtime that we’ll be using to ensure that we’re at maximum enforcement, meaning all my officers will be out there enforcing the vehicle codes.”

Forty-one deaths were recorded in the state during the last year’s celebration. Sixteen hundred people were arrested for driving under the influence. Lieutenant Whitmore Said, you drink, your drive, you go to jail.
