If it's laughter you’re after you won't want to miss Second City, America's Premiers comedy troupe that will be performing at the Nevada Theatre on Broad Street this Friday and Saturday nights.

Event promoter Jane Primrose says Second City began in Chicago in the 1950's and  has produced many of the best comedians in the country.

“Their list of people who have gone through Second City reads like the who’s who of comedy in America today. What they specialize in, and they started about 50 years ago, as they specialize in improvisational comedy. They were realty the first ones to take this into a theater format with multiple players, and out of this came things like Saturday Night Live.”

 Some of the comedians to come out of Second City include Alan Alda, John Belushi, Gilda Radner Bill Murray and Tina Fey. Primrose says Nevada County is very fortunate to be able to present the troupe here.

“We’ve had a special relationship with them and we’ve brought them every couple of years and in fact, this is their only Northern California performance during the holiday season.”

Tickets for the performances this Friday and Saturday nights November 13-14, are 25$ in advance and $30 at the door. The proceeds from the shows will go to restore the Historic Nevada Theatre.
