There has been an arrest in connection with the hit and run accident on Interstate 80 in Roseville yesterday morning that resulted in the death of a Grass Valley woman. CHP officer David Martinez reports that the responsible party, 21 year old Jeremy Sam Sarguis, turned himself in yesterday.
“Three men came in to the North Sacramento CHP office about 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The mom brought them in. She was actually the mom of one of the passengers in the vehicle, a white Mitsubishi Diamonte. Through investigation that was done at the office, the driver admitted to driving the vehicle that struck the woman.”
Two unidentified male passengers were with Sarguis when his vehicle struck 47 year old Vickie Janelle Scott on Interstate 80 at Eureka Road at approximately 4:25 Thursday morning. Officer Martinez says investigators were able to determine that Scott had received a ride from Thunder Valley Casino off highway 65 in Lincoln, to Roseville where a Placer County Sheriff’s deputy made contact with her between 2:00 and 2:30 Thursday morning.
“The deputy offered to give her a ride. She indicated that she was from Grass Valley and was trying to make her way back home. He offered to call somebody for her but she declined.”
The two passengers in Sarguis' vehicle were not arrested. Sarguis was booked into Placer County jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and felony hit and run resulting in a death. Sarguis’ bail was set at $150-thousand dollars.
