Rodriguez Continued

A hearing for convicted sexual assault suspect, Jonathan Rodriguez, has been continued until the end of April.  Rodriguez was not in court today, however, his attorney, Alison Bermant (like Vermont), spoke by phone with the judge and asked for more time to read thousands of pages of transcripts and documents in the case.  Rodriguez was convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Grass Valley in June of 2008.  He had been scheduled for sentencing early last month, but instead, argued that he had not be properly represented by defense attorney Gary Gordon, and asked for a new trial.  Bermant was recently selected to review the case and report to the court.  Rodriguez is facing a possible maximum sentence of 50 years to life in prison
