Local Contractors will have the opportunity to bid on the new Bus Transfer Facility planned for Tinloy Street in Grass Valley. Nevada County Public Works Director, Doug Farrell says the 900 thousand dollar station will be a vast improvement for bus riders compared to the current transfer site at Church and Neal Streets, "There'll be a turnout for buses, there'll be seating for folks waiting for the buses. It'll look a lot like a real simple little strip park, is what it will look like." Farrell says design is complete and the project is ready to go to bid and should be in the scope for many local contractors to handle, "The bidding process and the contract award process takes a couple of months to go through. And right now we're planning construction to start in October. and depending on the winter. We'll work through winter. A lot of this work can be done during the winter, and depending upon how the weather cooperates with us, it ought to be completed sometime next spring or early summer."
The New Gold Country Stage Transfer facility is being paid for in large part with Federal Transit money that was received by the county several years ago for this project.
