Friday, August sixth, is fast approaching. Nevada County Elections Department, Senior Clerk Recorder Assistant, Beth Goodrich, says that's the deadline for people to file for many of the elective offices throughout the county, "But if the incumbent does not file, then the deadline gets extended to August 11th, but again, that's only if the incumbent does not file for that office."
Goodrich says there are a wide variety of elective offices that are open, "Right now we have a lot of special districts, which includes school districts, water districts, fire districts. There are boards of directors positions are open. The City of Grass Valley also has some council seats, as well as the Town of Truckee."
Goodrich says anyone who would like to file to campaign for any of these elective offices can go to the Nevada County Elections office, where they'll be required to fill out a packet of paperwork and have their eligibility verified, before they can be placed on the November election ballot.
