Home | Local | New Car Sales are Up Nationally and Locally

Sales of new cars are up across the nation according to a variety of sources.  Gold Rush Chevrolet and Subaru owner, Steve Snyder, says that's true locally, to some degree, "I would say, overall, business is probably still off 30%, but compared to a year or two ago, when business was off 70% or 80%,  we're doing much, much better, as most dealers are."
Snyder says the increase in sales was bound to happen, "People need transportation, and, in most cases, they need cars, and, of course, you can put off buying a new car for quite awhile, by taking the car in and having it serviced regulary, but, eventually, people are going to have to replace their cars with something either new, or an upgraded used car, and I think that's where we are right now."
Snyder says a few years ago dealers were selling more than 16-million cars a year.  A year or two ago that number declined to less than 10-million, but is on schedule this year to exceed eleven-million cars.  He expects that could increase to as much as 14-million in the next couple of years.  Snyder says he's hired a lot of new employees in recent months . . . and is optimistic that car and truck sales are going to increase in coming months.
